The Grumman F7F Tigercat, "Here Kitty Kitty," was showcased at the 2019 Wings Over Houston Airshow. This heavy fighter aircraft served with the United States Navy and Marines from the end of World War II until 1954. It was the first twin-engine fighter used by the Navy. Although it arrived too late for combat in World War II, it did participate in the Korean War as a night fighter and attack plane. Originally designed for use on Midway-class aircraft carriers, the early versions of the F7Fs were used on land instead. It was too big for older, smaller carriers, and only a later version (F7F-4N) was certified for use on carriers.
