About this Print
During the 2016 Wings Over Houston Airshow, a North American B-25J Mitchell aircraft named "Betty's Dream" was displayed with its Bombay doors open. This particular aircraft was armed with eight .50-caliber guns in the front, giving it the ability to inflict significant damage on enemy airfields and ships at sea. This configuration also allowed for precise attacks at low altitudes. The 345th Bomb Group, known as the “Air Apaches,” were the first group to be fully trained and equipped with B-25 in the South Pacific. The 345th achieved great success in their missions, using their B-25s to strafe and bomb enemy installations and shipping at very low altitudes.
